South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley, one of the most talented freshmen in women’s college basketball, inked a multiyear NIL deal with Curry Brand, Under Armour announced Friday morning.
Fulwiley becomes the first college athlete to sign with Curry Brand at an Under Armour-sponsored school. She will debut as a Curry Brand athlete during the upcoming NCAA Tournament and will wear Curry Brand shoes for the remainder of her college career.
“She’s changing the women’s game on the fly with how she plays and moves on the court,” Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors guard and Curry Brand president, said. “She has a unique style and flow to her game that I don’t think many people have seen in a long time.”
UConn women’s basketball junior guard Azzi Fudd signed a NIL deal with Curry’s other company, Thirty Inc. in December 2021. UConn is sponsored by Nike.
Fulwiley’s NIL deal includes collaborations on player exclusives, though it is unclear what they will be. She will be a brand ambassador off the court.
Fulwiley, who scored 24 points against LSU in the SEC championship game on March 10, has previously been linked to Curry Brand; she played a year of AAU basketball for Team Curry, which is sponsored by Curry Brand.
Under Armour announced on Wednesday Kevin Plank is set to become CEO of the company again on April 1. The following day, UA’s stock dropped by more than 10%, with analysts citing the company’s revolving door at the CEO position in recent years.
