Comcast and YES Network have hashed out another brief extension that’ll keep the New York Yankees’ RSN on the operator’s menu in the Tri-State area until at least the end of the month.
The two sides have agreed to push the current deadline—which would have seen the YES signal go dark Thursday night in markets across northern New Jersey, parts of Connecticut and the lower Hudson Valley—to Monday, March 31, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
This is only the latest extension, as the drop-dead date for the negotiations has been kicked down the road at least 16 times since the official deadline passed last year.
In agreeing to keep the YES signal live in Comcast homes for the near term, the combatants have ensured that Yankee fans won’t miss Saturday’s 1:05 p.m. ET start against Milwaukee, which marks the RSN’s first live game of the season. ESPN carried the Bombers’ Thursday opener, which the home team won by a 4-2 margin.
(YES partners with Sportico on a monthly sports-business program that is carried by the network.)
